Random Access Memories is the fourth proper studio album from Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, better known as Daft Punk. Released on 2013 by the Columbia Records label, “RAM” leaves behind the EDM sound that Daft Punk helped create, and instead focuses on the sounds, styles, and production techniques of the 1970s and early 80s.
The album features Chic frontman Nile Rodgers, who commented that a collaboration was “something we’ve [Daft Punk and Rodgers] talked about for a long time. We’ve respected each other endlessly.” Daft Punk eventually visited Rodgers’ home for an informal jam session, and an official collaboration was later confirmed and completed at Electric Lady Studios. The result was the album’s single, “Get Lucky.”
