Kala is the second studio album by British Tamil musician M.I.A., released in August 2007. The album was ranked as one of the best albums of the year by several publications, and reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 chart — topping the magazine’s Top Electronic Albums chart. Kala spawned the singles “Boyz”, “Jimmy” and most notably “Paper Planes,” which led the album to over 500,000 sales in the US.
