4, also known as Foreigner 4, is the fourth studio album by the American rock band, Foreigner, released in 1981 on Atlantic Records. Several successful singles, including “Urgent”, “Waiting for a Girl Like You”, and “Juke Box Hero”, propelled the album to being Foreigner’s only #1 in the US.
4 was certified 6x platinum by the RIAA and marked the completion of the band’s shift to hard rock, begun in their 1979 release, Head Games. Both Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood had left the band before the recording of 4, and as a result, all songs on the album are compositions written by Mick Jones and/or Lou Gramm.
